In the world of boxing, there are legends, and then there’s Prince Naseem Hamed.
This unique boxer will forever be remembered as an entertainer and the prince of boxing.
A Boxing Star is Born – Prince Naseem Hamed
Naseem Hamed, born on February 12, 1974, in Sheffield, England, was destined for greatness.
From a young age, his talent and passion for boxing were evident.
He quickly rose through the ranks, earning his nickname, “Prince,” for his unmatched confidence in the ring.
A Unique Boxing Style
What set Prince Naseem apart from his peers was his unorthodox fighting style. He could do more than boxing such as entering the ring with a flip. His hands-down, chin-up stance was daring, but he had the speed and power to back it up. Naseem danced like no one else, floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee.
Championship Glory
Naseem’s journey to the top culminated in his WBO featherweight championship win in 1995. He defended his title multiple times and gained a reputation for his devastating punching power, but mostly being a showman.
Controversy and Comebacks
Prince Naseem’s career didn’t solely consist of sunshine. He suffered his first and only loss in 2001. He attempted comebacks but eventually retired in 2002.
Boxing record
This left him with a record of 37 fights, 36 wins, 31 knockouts and 1 loss, which I believe is remarkable1!
Summary
Prince Naseem Hamed was more than a boxer; he was, in my opinion, the greatest showman of all time. Ending his successful career with a record of 36 wins and 1 loss.
